Volunteer Code of Conduct
Main Goal: To love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind and your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:34-40)
1. Seek to glorify God in all that we do.
2. Seek to help others grow and be strengthened in their lives, whether our neighbors or our fellow associates.
3. Respect cultural differences.
4. Dress appropriately.
5. Offer food that is acceptable / Halal.
6. Be socially sensitive when it is proper to do so (i.e., proper handshake, gender distance, modest dress, etc.)
7. Develop genuine friendships with our neighbors, treating them as you would want them to treat you.
8. Be careful and wise about giving money to those who ask for help. Talk with NeXus leadership about the situation first, so that we help properly and do not create dependency.
9. Regarding discussions about Islam, do not be disrespectful but engage our neighbors with kindness, truthfulness and love. Prepare yourself for discussions about differences and similarities between our faiths. Show respect for the Bible by not placing it or other Christian Literature on the floor.
10. Report and discuss with NeXus leadership suspected cases of abuse among our immigrant friends and their families.
